Dr. Dave Darby DC, has Decades of Experience as a Doctor of Chiropractic—helping the people of his hometown, New Iberia. To our knowledge, Dr. Dave is the FIRST licensed Doctor of Chiropractic from New Iberia who ever came back home and has maintained a private Chiropractic practice in New Iberia for decades. Dr Dave was a 1987 Honors Program graduate at NISH. He majored in Biology/Chemistry at USL. He completed undergrad at Park University in Kansas City, Missouri in the PreProfessional Health Sciences, a program run by Dr Delta Geier, PhD (who had multiple PhD’s in Chemistry). Dr Geier actually had worked with Albert Einstein, when he was a young scientist. Dr Geier personally taught Dr Dave and Dr Cari. Dr. Dave earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in the accelerated 9 Trimester program from Cleveland Chiropractic College/Cleveland University in Kansas City in 1994 with a cumulative gpa of 3.45. Dr Dave completed an extended preceptorship at Midlands Chiropractic Associates in Omaha, Nebraska, gaining invaluable experience in a hard working, blue collar area. After Dr Dave’s Mother passed, he knew returning home to New Iberia was what she would have wanted. Dr Dave worked along side, and was mentored by the Legendary Doctor of Chiropractic, Dr Virgil Bryant, in New Iberia for a few years in one of the largest Chiropractic Practices in Louisiana. Along with Dr Cari, Dr Dave has been the owner of Darby Chiropractic of New Iberia since 1999, establishing it as a Family Based Chiropractic Clinic.
Dr. Cari Darby DC, has Decades of Experience. Dr Cari is a native of Omaha, Nebraska. She graduated from Daniel J. Gross High in 1987. She then attended the University of Nebraska majoring in Psychology. She finished undergrad in the PreProfessional Health Sciences at Park University in Kansas City, Missouri. She earned her Doctor of Chiropractic Degree with High Honors, cumulative gpa of 3.71, at Cleveland Chiropractic College/Cleveland University of Kansas City in 1994, in the accelerated 9 Trimester DC Degree program. Dr Cari completed an extended preceptorship in Omaha, Nebraska. Dr Cari also worked with with Dr Dave at Bryant Chiropractic Clinic in New Iberia. She has been the co-owner of Darby Chiropractic of New Iberia, with Dr Dave since 1999. She has decades of experience in Chiropractic and enjoys the family atmosphere of practice.
Dr. Dave focuses on General Chiropractic Practice, but has decades of experience in complex back and neck conditions in the Chiropractic scope. Dr Dave lives with a congenital lower back condition called Spondylolisthesis with a severely degenerative L5 disc, so he does his best to practice what he preaches. This has led Dr Dave to want to offer the best equipment, and give his best for his hometown, so that others can live a better quality of life through Chiropractic also. Dr Dave also has a special interest in Nutrition and Sports Chiropractic. An avid athlete, Dr. Dave does weightlifting several days per week. His focus is on core strength, and the functional integrity of the Spine. Dr Dave strives toward being a living testimony to the benefits of long term Chiropractic Care.
Dr Cari’s special areas of interest are Cold Laser, Spinal Disc Decompression Therapy, Nutritional Supplementation and exercise, as she practices yoga several times per week. Dr Cari’s Strengths are structure, organization, and getting down to the root causes of problems. An Amazing Mom, she truly understands what other families go through in giving their all for their children, and brings that concern and experience in helping our patients—and letting them know they have a Doctor of Chiropractic who understands life’s challenges. And even with a super busy schedule, Dr Cari has helped many people by participating in Meals on Wheels, and in helping people in our communities with reading challenges. Dr Cari’s compassion and commitment to caring are unsurpassed.
Dr. Dave and Dr. Cari met in undergrad in 1990. They got married in 1994 after graduating from Cleveland Chiropractic College of Kansas City. Dr Dave and Dr Cari completed the Doctor of Chiropractic Degree Program in an Accelerated 9 Trimester Curriculum. This means that Dr Dave and Dr Cari completed their DC degrees with up to 30-36 credit hours per Trimester in courses such as Neuroanatomy, Gross Anatomy, Spinal Anatomy, Biochemistry, Radiology, Diagnosis, and Other Rigorous Health Science Courses, along with Multiple Chiropractic Techniques, while achieving very high gpa to be able to stay in the Accelerated Program. The 9 Trimester accelerated program is no longer offered, more than likely because it is too challenging. Dr Dave & Dr Cari excelled in it. Dr Dave & Dr Cari are two of the very few Chiropractors in Louisiana to be trained by Dr Hugo Gibson, DC, in Full Spine Specific Adjusting Technique—one of the Most Legendary DCs of All Time. Dr Dave & Dr Cari utilize multiple Adjusting Techniques, including Gonstead, Diversified, Thompson, Activator, Impulse Instrument, and Flex/D. The Doctors are also proficient in Myofascial techniques, and multiple muscle and nerve therapies.
Cleveland University of Kansas City, according to the Dean of Academics, is one of the most rigorous and challenging Doctorate level programs, and has the highest rankings of National Board completion scores, nearly 10 points over the National average. Cleveland University-Kansas City/College of Chiropractic celebrated 100 Years in 2022, and has the Highest Accreditation a Chiropractic College can attain.
Dr Dave and Dr Cari completed all National Board requirements, as well as licensure requirements to Practice Chiropractic in Louisiana. They complete Continuing Education every year.
Dr Dave & Dr Cari have been blessed with 3 beautiful children, and totally understand what it means to raise a family in tough times, especially when health concerns arise.
